Horbury’s CyberMentors recieved great news today, we have won the Diana Anti-Bullying Award for tackling bullying in our communities and schools.
It has come as a great boost to the team at Horbury and has encouraged us to increase our Anti-Bullying Promotion.
Laura said: “It has come as a great boost to the team at Horbury and we can’t wait to carry on our work after the summer holidays”.

Today saw the annual year 6 Taster Day take place where year 6 students from around the catchment area who have chosen to come to Horbury School in September were given the opportunity to sample some lessons and get a feel for school life at Horbury.
As part of the assembly which took place to introduce the year 6’s to the school, Horbury’s CyberMentors were given the opportunity to present to them and introduce them to Horbury’s CyberMentors.

We all know that bullying is all around us, but do we really take notice of the homophobic kind? Homophobia is one of the most ignored types of bullying in my opinion. The word “gay” is heavily over used. An everyday saying like this could be the most haunting word to a gay/lesbian or bi-sexual. A massive 49% are too scared to ‘come out of the closet’ because of harassment or bullying.

Horbury School CyberMentors are, participating in the BBC News School Report Sports Day. The CyberMentors along with several members of the Sports Council will be reporting on events such as the up and coming Sports Presentation Evening, Fantasy Football and all the World Cup related activities going on in Learning Groups.

4 members of the Glee cast were bullied when they were at school. Chris Colfer (Kurt), Amber Riley (Mercedes), Kevin McHale (Artie) and Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) all had different bullying issues. Kevin had food thrown at him and Amber was called names and would stay in the library or classroom during lunch.
